http://www.nickelback.comNickelback are a Canadian rock band formed in Hanna (near Calgary), Alberta, by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Brandon Kroeger (who has since been replaced on drums by Daniel Adair), whose name originates from the nickel in change that Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job (he would frequently say ‘Here's your nickel back’). Their first release was a 7 track EP, “Hesher”, in 1996, and was quickly followed in the same year by their first full length album, “Curb”. Their first single, "Fly", released on both EP and album, didn’t chart and was only played on local radio stations. Follow up album, 1998’s “The State”, was released as an independent record, but then Nickelback signed a record deal with EMI and Roadrunner Records, and “The State” was re-released in 2000, and was certificated gold in Canada and the US.
In 2001, Nickelback released “Silver Side Up”, which represented their introduction to the mainstream, with the single "How You Remind Me" peaking at number 1 on the Canadian chart, and also on the Mainstream, Modern Rock, and Pop charts in the US. It also made number 2 on Adult Top 40, and became the Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single of the year for 2002. Next single, "Too Bad" also hit number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Chart, as was third and final single "Never Again".
In 2002, Chad and Mike Kroeger worked with Josey Scott on the “Spider-Man” theme song, "Hero", and the following year, Nickelback released “The Long Road”, their fourth studio album. Fifth LP, 2005’s “All the Right Reasons” produced 5 US Hot 100 Top 20 singles ("Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared" and "Rockstar").
2008’s “Dark Horse”, whose lead single is "Gotta Be Somebody", was produced by Mutt Lange.
