http://www.mannfriday.comSince arriving in the UK from South Africa, Mann Friday have spent the last six years building up a devoted following on the London gig circuit with their passionate live performances and unique brand of emotionally charged acoustic indie folk-rock.
In early June, Mann Friday played their first gig back on UK soil with Watershed at The Forum after a successful tour of South Africa in April, where they played alongside South African award winning indie-rockers Cassette as well as up and coming SA bands Gonzo Republic and The Pretty Blue Guns. Mann Friday also debuted in the Drakensberg with a triumphant performance at the 20th Splashy Fen Festival.
On the 9 July, Mann Friday will take on their most ambitious gig to date – the O2 Empire! Having played to capacity audiences at many of the capital's favourite gig venues – the Clapham Grand, Astoria 2, Halfmoon, Marquee Club, Borderline and Barfly, the band will be taking to the esteemed stage of the Empire for the first time. “It will be our biggest gig to date but we have always raised the bar for ourselves, and we will be pulling out all the stops to ensure that we create something special”, says Robbie Burrell, the band's frontman.
This Empire show is in honour of Mann Friday’s latest and most proudly presented album, Waiting for the Flash. This album represents a watershed moment for the London-based quartet – with the album single Not for Sale, Mann Friday lead the charge against a music market saturated with production line pop and carbon copy indie bands. The 13-track offering is bursting with life, nostalgia, and has a dark heart beating at its core.
What Mann Friday sounds like…
Like getting into a fistfight between Paul Simon and the Smashing Pumpkins, and then getting driven to the emergency room by a drunk Dave Matthews.
