Long-view formed in Manchester in 2002, and after early performances at the Night and Day Cafe, they signed to 14th Floor Recordings. Debut album "Mercury" was released in July the following year, peaking at number 45 on the UK Album chart. "Mercury" contains the track “Further”, which featured on TV’s “One Tree Hill”, helping the single climb to number 27 in the UK Singles chart on it’s re-release. 2005 saw "Mercury" also re-released, bettering it’s top placing of 2003 by rising to number 29 on the UK Album chart.

Long-view currently comprise of German electronic musician and producer Ulrich Schnauss, chief songwriter Rob McVey, guitar player Doug Morch, and bass player Aidan Banks. Drummer Matt Dabbs left the band for family reasons during 2007.
