Dynamite
Artist: Jamiroquai
Album Released: June, 2005
Review by Dan:
A raspy voiced JK greets us on opener “Feels Just Like It Should”, with a beat sounding similar to an earlier single, “Deeper Underground”, leaving you wondering if these funky favourites have finally run out of ideas with this, their 6th studio album. Thankfully, this is not the case. The title track immediately brings visions of a retro Tavares style 70’s party, while Erasure could’ve influenced the bassy “Electric Mistress”. “Love Blind” and “Tallulah” soothe the mood slightly, as does “World That He Wants”, a sad song with JK’s voice ever so far away, but then the tempo increases with “Black Devil Car” – prominent guitars supporting this brief dabble in rock. However, the track for me on this album is “Seven Days in Sunny June” – this is classic Jamiroquai, complementing any relaxed outdoor occasion – you can just imagine the barbecue sizzling away in the background.
