In Between Dreams

Artist: Jack Johnson

Album Released: February, 2005

Review by Craig:

Living life in Hawaii can only mean two things - relaxing on the beach and riding the famous Hawaiian waves. Jack Johnson has combined the two with his own style of music. Sunshine seems to go with Jack Johnson wherever he goes. “In Between Dreams” is Jack’s 3rd album and I have to say its one of his best, I prefer sitting chilling to his music, or sitting in a car driving long distances with his music accompanying me. The whole album seems rather simple, but the magic you hear never leaves you. So whether it is being “Better Together” or simply eating “Banana Pancakes” you realise one thing, Jack Johnson can rule the waves.

Review by Dan:

I bought Hawaiian Jack Johnson's 3rd release in New Zealand at the start of their winter, after hearing “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” on the radio. Jack gives the impression that these 3 activities are exactly what he spends his time doing, slapping lightly away at his acoustic guitar, and putting you at ease with his dulcet tones. A sun kissed, relaxed collection of very simple music, life’s a breeze for Jack as he gently massages “Banana Pancakes”, and brings in an accordion on “Belle”. “Constellations” is perhaps best listened to gazing up at a starry night – it’s quite romantic in a way. ‘It’s always better when we’re together’ croons Jack – after a hot, stressful day at work, I came home, put this album on the stereo, and definitely found it better that me and Jack were together.
