Thrilled on St Patrick’s Day
17th March is always a popular day, whether you’re Irish or not. St Patrick’s Day is the most celebrated non UK bank holiday, with loads of Guinness involved. But this St Paddy’s days was extremely grand, Hammersmith Palais welcomed 3 bands for a top notch night of music. What better way to complete the celebrations than listening to Irish music.
First up we had the 747’s, this young gifted band got the whole gig off and they really set the tempo for the rest of the evening, I was very impressed by the stage performance and I’m very interested to find out more about this talented band. Well worth looking out for in the future. After a short break and a few more pints of beer or Guinness, the crowd slowly began to grow. The lights dimmed and Hal stepped up to the mark, another young up and coming band that got the whole crowd moving their feet. Wow, I must say what a performance, again not a band I’ve seen or heard before but they really gave it their all and I am sure they won over a few more fans with their performance. Their debut self titled album “Hal” is out soon, best get your hands on a copy, I know I will.
As Hal’s last song began to fade into the background noise and people were shuffling to get to the bars, you could feel the build up in the crowd; this is what people have been waiting for, the arrival of The Thrills. All of a sudden the music starts and the crowd goes wild, The Thrills have landed, well, arrived on stage… They’ve been a band that I was not too thrilled about but I must say that they truly and utterly thrilled me. Wow, I’m now a big fan and will continue to praise this band, they produce great music live and they are definitely one to see live. A truly excellent way to see out St Paddy’s Day, and I’m sure everyone there was totally thrilled…….
