Garbage

Artist: Garbage

Album Released: January, 1995

Review by Dan:

Self titled debut album from electro rock outfit Garbage, and it’s very hard to identify a weak link in this upbeat album. “Stupid Girl” was one of the defining tracks of my grunge-influenced late teens, the seductive working of the verses by front woman Shirley Manson being the key factor. Other favourites include “Only Happy When It Rains”, a dark, percussion-led track with the abundant rhythmic guitars whining along behind, and “Vow”, where Manson’s general ‘no messing’ attitude is at its most prominent. The biggest compliment I can attribute to this album is that I still enjoy listening to it as much as I did when I first bought it. One of the outstanding albums of the 90’s.
