http://www.thefratellis.comGlaswegian indie rock 3 piece consisting of John Lawler (“Jon Fratelli”, vocals and guitar), Barry Wallace (“Barry Fratelli”, bass and vocals) and Gordon McRory (“Mince Fratelli”, drums), taking their name from the family of bad guys in the 80’s movie The Goonies. They played their first show in March 2005 at O'Henry's bar in Glasgow, and after just 9 gigs they were signed by Fallout Records. “The Fratellis” EP was released in April 2006, featuring the tracks "Stacie Anne", "The Gutterati?", and "Creepin' Up The Backstairs" (which was never released as a single by the band, even though a video was made for it). The Fratellis’ first single was "Henrietta", released in June 2006, charting at number 19 in the UK. Debut LP “Costello Music” followed quickly in the September, occupying the number 2 spot in the UK charts for 3 weeks, and earning the band a support slot on Kasabian's UK tour at the end of the year. The Fratellis played 10 UK dates by themselves in early 2007, as well as numerous festivals, and opened for The Police on some of the North American dates of their Reunion Tour. “Costello Music” also earned the band the "Best British Breakthrough Act" at the 2007 BRIT Awards.
In November 2007, The Fratellis announced that they had commenced work on their second album, aiming to self produce it in their own Glaswegian studio. In February 2008, they played a small show for fans at Queen Margaret Union to debut around 8 new songs from the upcoming album. The performance introduced 2 new touring members, a guitarist called Robin (who subsequently departed the tour for unknown reasons) and a keyboard player, Will Foster (who also plays guitar during live performances). “Here We Stand”, was released in June 2008 in the UK and US, marking the US album release with sold out shows in New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles.
