The debut album from Doves opens with an instrumental, “Firesuite” which leads excellently into “Here it comes”, moody, aptly named and worth waiting for. Confusion sets in once you hear “Melody Calls”, as it makes you certain that someone has sneaked in and put on a totally different album without you noticing, it sounds like something The Coral would get inspiration from. My favourite, “Catch the sun” follows, drums hurrying the verses along, receding for the chorus, a guitar based relentless rhythm and an excellent rock song.
